授業の目的・達成目標

科目の目的・主旨： This course emphasizes communicative evaluation and analysis. The overall goal of the course is to improve student ability to understand and produce extended discourse in English, especially in reading and writing contexts. Academic English vocabulary, recognizing and summarizing key points, critical thinking skills, and logical argumentation based on examples and evidence will be emphasized.


達成目標：Students will

- acquire greater skills in reading articles in English and knowledge about a variety of current topics,

- enlarge their academic vocabulary and improve their ability to understand the grammatical structure of sentences and paragraphs, and

- gain experience in writing their opinion on current topics.

具体的な方法や計画はMoodleで説明を行うのでよく読むこと

1)　Course introduction　本科目で学ぶことを把握する．教科書に沿って毎週ほぼUnit１つ進む．
 1～15) Environment, Planet, Patient-oriented medicine, Natural resource, Telemedicine,
 Music and Yoga, Yoga and Forest therapy, Humanoid, Renewable energy, Electric vehicles,
 Biotechnology, Biomimicry, Tropical Diseases, Food and health.
 (Out of ice, Extrasolar planet, For the benefit of the patient, The tragedy of the commons, Telemedicine, Making music, Yoga, Forest therapy, The uncanny valley, Renewable energy, Electric vehicles, The rose, Biomimicry, Neglected tropical diseases, Organic food.)
 １年間の振り返り復習.
16) Final exam 期末テスト（読解中心）.

成績評価の方法

具体的な評価方法は初回授業で説明します。

授業評価点60％（多読課題5%を含む課題25%、宿題35％）、学期末試験評価点40％。

成績評価の基準
秀　 達成目標を超えた成果を上げている　100点～90点
優　 達成目標に十分達している　　　　　89点～80点
良　 達成目標に達している　　　　　　　79点～70点
可　 達成目標に概ね達している　　　　　69点～60点
不可 達成目標に達していない　　　　　　59点以下
事前・事後学修等の指示及び履修にあたっての注意事項

原則として毎週、教科書の予復習中心の宿題があり、毎回10点満点で合計後、評価点に換算（予定）。読解に重点を置くので辞書を活用するとよいです。遅延は減点。社会情勢等により、進行に変更がかかる可能性があります。

事前学修：教科書や教材の予習，予習課題に取り組む。 （120 分）

事後学修：授業内の講義や解説を理解し，事後課題（宿題）に取り組む。（120分）
