授業の目的・達成目標

【授業の目的】

This course emphasizes communicative evaluation and analysis. The overall goal of the course is to improve student ability to understand and produce extended discourse in English, especially in reading and writing contexts. Academic English vocabulary, recognizing and summarizing key points, critical thinking skills, and logical argumentation based on examples and evidence will be emphasized.

【達成目標】

Students will

・acquire greater skills in reading articles in English and knowledge about a variety of current topics,

・enlarge their academic vocabulary and improve their ability to understand the grammatical structure of sentences and paragraphs, and

・gain experience in writing their opinion on current topics.

授業計画

Weeks 1, 2: Course Introduction & Unit 8 Prompt Engineering

Weeks 3, 4: Unit 9 Art and Function in Architecture

Weeks 5, 6: Unit 10 DNA and Material Science

Week 7: Workshop - Relationship Between Talking and Singing 

Week 8, 9: Unit 11 Prime Factorization

Weeks 10, 11: Unit 12 IT Solutions from IoT to Sports Tech

Weeks 12, 13: Unit 13 Terraforming Mars

Week 14, 15: Unit 14 Iron and Mankind 

Each unit consists of following activities. 

                     - Warm-up

                     - Vocabulry Building

                     - Reading

                     - Critical Thinking

                     - Listening

                     - Active Learning Tasks                 

Focus on each activity may be changed.

Also, extensive e-learning is required as assignments.

 

成績評価の方法

Vocabulary Checking: 20%, Reading-Out: 20%, Listening 10%, Active Learning Tasks: 30%, Extensive Reading: 20%

According to the level of students, the contents and ratio may be chanfed.

 

成績評価の基準
秀　 達成目標を超えた成果を上げている　100点～90点
優　 達成目標に十分達している　　　　　89点～80点
良　 達成目標に達している　　　　　　　79点～70点
可　 達成目標に概ね達している　　　　　69点～60点
不可 達成目標に達していない　　　　　　59点以下

The teacher will explain the grading system in class. Based on a maximum score of 100, grades will be awarded as follows:

S (Excellent) 90-100

A (Very good) 80-90

B (Good) 70-80

C (Pass) 60-70

D (Fail) Below 60.
