授業の目的・達成目標

【授業の目的】

This course emphasizes communicative evaluation and analysis. Students in this course will continue to develop their skills in reading, writing, and speaking English in academic situations. Students will read selected academic texts, learn skills for understanding these texts, and develop written and spoken responses to them. Students will develop critical thinking and independent learning skills.

・develop independent learning skills

・learn how to organize information and structure an argument, and

・gain experience in preparing short academic presentations.

授業計画

Week 1 & 2: Course Introduction & Lesson 1 Energy-Efficient House

Week 3 & 4: Lesson 3 Relief and Despair: Repeal of Loggin Ban Divides Kenya

Week 5 & 6: Lesson 5 How Single-Use Plastic Still Rules the World

Week 7: Workshop - Relationship between Voice and Body

Week 8 & 9: Lesson 7 Notre-Dame Cathedral: Risen from the Ashes

Week 10 & 11: Lesson 12 Mars Exploration and Europa Mission

Week 12 & 13: Lesson 14 Brain Stimulation Can Help Injured People Walk 

Week 14 & 15: Preparation for Group Presentation

Week 16: Group Presentation

 

Each unit includes following activities: 

 - Listening (Key Word Study, Sequence Questions, Dictatin Exercise, Comprehension Questions, Summary)  

 - Reading (Comprehension Questions, Discussion Questions)

 - Activity for presentation

 

 Also extensive reading is required as assignments.

 Contents and Schedule may be changed.

Vocabulary Quiz: 20%, Assignments: 30%, Presentation: 30%, Extensive reading: 20%

成績評価の基準
秀　 達成目標を超えた成果を上げている　100点～90点
優　 達成目標に十分達している　　　　　89点～80点
良　 達成目標に達している　　　　　　　79点～70点
可　 達成目標に概ね達している　　　　　69点～60点
不可 達成目標に達していない　　　　　　59点以下

The teacher of each course will explain the grading system in class. Based on a maximum score of 100, grades will be awarded as follows:

S (Excellent) 90-100

A (Very good) 80-90

B (Good) 70-80

C (Pass) 60-70

D (Fail) Below 60.

事前・事後学修等の指示及び履修にあたっての注意事項

Self Preparation: Check the meaning and pronunciation of words. ( 30min.)

Review: Take a note of the passage, and prepare for your own presentation with the information from the textbook and your research on relevant websites. (90min.)

Extensive reading (120min.)
