授業の目的・達成目標 Course Goals: This course emphasizes communicative evaluation and analysis. The overall goal is to improve students' ability to understand and produce extended discourse in English, especially in reading and writing contexts. Academic English vocabulary, recognizing and summarizing key points, critical thinking skills, and logical argumentation based on examples and evidence will be emphasized. Achievements and Goals: ・Students will practice reading articles on current topics of interest in English. ・Students will practice reading different kinds of texts appropriately, adapting reading style according to the type of text and purpose of reading. ・Students will practice writing about topics relevant to some social, professional, and educational situations. 授業計画 ① Course Introduction Understand the requirements for course completion ② What is “Academic English”? Understand the linguistic features of an academic text ③ --- ⑥ Academic texts related to science and technology (Food tech, Picture morphing) Understand the basic structure of a paragraph Review 1: a short test, writing a paragraph, and peer evaluation ⑦ --- ⑩ Academic texts related to progress and innovation (Undergrounding, Construction) Understand the basic structure of a "process" paragraph Review 2: a short test, writing a process paragraph, and peer evaluation ⑪ --- ⑭ Academic texts related to information and society (ICT) Understand the basic structure of a "definition" and "classification" paragraph Review 3: a short test and writing a classification paragraph and peer evaluation ⑮ ---⑯ Peer presentation/evaluation, Review & Exam Understand the linguistic features of an academic text 成績評価の方法 Grades: 50% of the course grade will be based on the results of in-class activities and homework assignments, and the remaining 50% of the course grade will be based on the results of the review tests and writing.
